Force on Force: Ambush Valley part 3

 This time the NVA will launch a surprise night attack on a US base.

The NVA have 4 sapper teams that have a 1 in 6 chance to blow a large hole in the wire at the start of the game.  1 of them succeeded.

Each turn a playing card is flipped.  On a Red there are illumination flares up giving regular visibility.   On a black card it is dark and we use the Night Fighting rules.

Only 2 US units are on watch (plus the M113 APC) at the beginning of the game.  Starting turn 2  random US unit arrived in a random section of the table edge.

The US had several Claymore mines along the wire.

Nva cut their way through the wire

The left US bunker is suppressed and over run

The APC is destroyed by mortar fire

A US squad arrives as reinforcement 

Prepared to be overrun

NVA over run the bunker on the left, but can't hold on as the last man is gunned down.

NVA over run the .50 cal bunker, but a reinforcement section takes it back.

In the end the NVA did not hold any bunkers, giving the US 30 victory points.   They did cause quite a few casualties,  adding up to 29 victory points.  Close game!
